A year ago, we built Socials, a network of WhatsApp communities for internationals moving to a new city. The idea was simply to connect them before they arrive so they don't feel alone.

It honestly helped thousands of internationals, but what we kept seeing in every single group, the conversation always came back to one topic...

Where it started

The problem no one was solving

Michael was heading to Rotterdam for his Erasmus semester. He spent weeks on five different platforms, messaging landlords who never replied, almost paying a deposit for a place he'd never seen.

And we got it, because we'd been there ourselves. Moving to a new city and trying to find a home from a distance is super stressful.

From communities to housing

We realised the WhatsApp groups were great for connecting people, but they weren't solving the biggest problem. So we did something about it.

We partnered directly with trusted accommodation platforms. We built a system that scans thousands of listings, filters them and delivers the best matches straight to WhatsApp, the app internationals already have open all day.

Are the listings real and verified?+

Yes. We use multiple verification methods to flag and remove scam listings before they reach you. Our team actively monitors for suspicious patterns and removes fraudulent listings. On top of that, many listings come from trusted partners like University Living, Amber, Spotahome, Uniplaces and Housing Anywhere, who verify their inventory directly.

How long does it usually take to find something?+

It depends on the city and your budget. Some people find a place within a week, others take a few weeks. Because we send you new matches the moment they go live, you’re always one of the first to know, giving you a real head start.

Do I get a discount on every listing?+

Not every listing, only on the rooms from our housing partners. When a match comes from one of our partners, you’ll get an exclusive discount code that’s only available to Socials members.
